MWC 2019: what to expect from the largest mobile technology exhibition?

The MWC (Mobile World Congress) is the largest annual event in the world of mobile technology, which will be held from February 25 to 28 in Barcelona. What to expect from MWC 2019? First, the announcements of flagship devices, such as the Sony Xperia XZ4 and LG G8, and secondly, the appearance of 5G smartphones from LG, Huawei and, possibly, other manufacturers. Mobile device developers will not fail to surprise the public with new products and surprises, and there are many rumors about this on the Web. So, what do we know about the upcoming MWC 2019 at the moment?

Samsung

Initially, it was assumed that Samsung representatives plan to demonstrate their future flagship Samsung Galaxy S10 at MWC 2019. But it turned out that the company will present this model a little earlier, on February 20 in San Francisco.

This doesn't mean that Samsung won't show anything at all at MWC. Rumors claim that the exhibition may be the place to announce a folding smartphone with a flexible screen. It can carry the name Samsung Galaxy X, Galaxy F or Galaxy Flex, and, according to some versions, have a 7.3-inch screen, a 6200 mAh battery and a triple camera.

In addition, Samsung will traditionally present an updated line of its mid-budget A-series phones at MWC. There is a small chance of new tablets or wearable gadgets, but it is small.

Sony

Sony often presents its latest flagships at the congress and this time we expect the appearance of the Sony Xperia XZ4. The company's press conference will be held on February 25 at 8: 30 am European time.

Not much is known about the upcoming smartphone yet. Judging by the renderings leaked online, we are waiting for a triple main camera, a 6.5-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and small frames at the top and bottom. "Eyebrows" and the 3.5 mm connector, it seems, will not be. The design, as you can see, is not the most impressive, with the exception of the three cameras (considering that so far Sony's cameras have always been fine, but single).

Also on display may be a smaller model of the Sony Xperia XZ4 Compact with a single main camera, frames and a 5-inch screen.

LG < p>

South Korean media claim that the LG G8 will be shown on February 24 at MWC. Representatives of the company themselves confirmed the announcement of the smartphone, but did not specify its name, keeping the intrigue.

It was mentioned that visitors to the exhibition will see a 5G smartphone with a 4000 mAh battery, a cooling system and a Snapdragon 855 processor. According to some sources, it may not be the G8, but the LG V50 ThinQ-both smartphones will be presented, but 5G support may only be in the latter.

Regarding the LG G8, leaks speak of a 4K LCD screen with possible sound transmission directly through its surface, as well as a dual front-facing camera and the presence of an upper frame.

< /p>Huawei

< /p>Huawei P20 was not announced at last year's MWC, but the Huawei P10 was – it happened in 2017. Therefore, it is likely that we should expect the Huawei P30. So far, there is not much information about the upcoming gadget. Rumors claim that it may have three or four main cameras built in, one of which will have a resolution of 38 MP. It is likely that the device will have a built - in Kirin 980 processor-the same as in the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Usually, Huawei representatives always demonstrate a new chipset in the Mate line for the first time, and then embed it in the P-series. This is not a bad version, as the Kirin 980 is currently the most powerful Android chipset.

Based on the parameters of the Mate 20 Pro, it seems that in the Huawei P30, the fingerprint scanner will be located behind the screen, and the camera will be triple. However, the highlight of the Huawei stand will not be the model P30 - the company confirmed the future announcement of a foldable 5G smartphone.

HTC < p>

HTC at MWC 2019 can show one or more devices. In 2018, this company reduced the production of its smartphones, but confirmed the presence of new models in development, which, according to them, will be announced in early 2019.

One model is likely to be an update of the average HTC U12 Life model with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. Unfortunately, it is not necessary to hope for the appearance of the future flagship HTC U13 (whatever it is called) – there are not even rumors about it, and the HTC U12 Plus model will be released only in May.

OnePlus

The flagship OnePlus 7 will most likely appear no earlier than mid-2019, and at MWC, according to rumors, we will be shown a 5G smartphone from this manufacturer. Little is known about it – only that it is announced separately from the main line due to the higher price. The use of 5G technology increases the price of the device and will make the price not as attractive as we are used to seeing in gadgets from OnePlus.

Motorola

Leaks claim that the Moto G7 model may appear before MWC 2019, so there is a chance to see the folding Motorola Razr V4 at the show. It is likely that its release will take place in February, so an announcement at MWC would be logical. The only thing that is known about this device at the moment is the fact that it is clearly not going to be cheap.

But In all likelihood, the Honor 11 will not be ready for the start of the MWC, since its predecessor, the Honor 10, was released only in May last year. In turn, Honor View 20 was recently introduced to the public, so most likely, this brand is waiting for a lull at MWC.

Nokia

The Nokia brand was widely presented at MWC 2018, and this year we should expect more new products from it. Attention is likely to be focused on the Nokia 9, the long-awaited flagship that is rumored to be on display at this year's show, just as it was with the high-end Nokia 8 Sirocco in the past.It is likely that other devices will be announced - if the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 1 have already appeared, this does not mean that the company does not have surprises in store. Rumors about the Nokia 9 PureView have been circulating on the Web for a long time, but information about its launch is contradictory. This model can be presented both at the MWC and before the exhibition.

At the two previous events, Nokia also presented nostalgic retro models 3310 and 8110. It is possible that something similar will happen at MWC 2019, who knows?!

5G SMARTPHONESMWC 2019 will be dedicated to 5G smartphones, which are actively launched this year. In addition to 5G devices from OnePlus and Huawei, we are likely to see phones with support for this technology from other manufacturers. At least, it is known that LG and Oppo plan to release such devices in the first half of this year.

XiaomiChinese giant Xiaomi has officially launched sales of its smartphones in Europe, and is now moving to the US markets, so the appearance of the company's stand at MWC 2019 is quite possible. What will we see? There is no answer to this question yet, time will tell.

Oppo

Representatives of Oppo said that they will present their folding smartphone at MWC 2019. Before the exhibition, the company will hold an announcement event. It will take place on February 23, but details about it have not yet become public. Previously, not all of Oppo's developments appeared outside of China, but we hope that both the folding phone and the upcoming 5G device will reach global markets after the exhibition in Barcelona.

Vivo

At MWC 2018, Vivo unveiled the Vivo Apex Concept, a frameless prototype with a retractable front-facing camera and on-screen fingerprint scanner. Its successor was the real model Vivo Nex. There is a high probability that Vivo will show the world the next prototype, but there is no exact information about it yet. The company plans to soon release the Vivo Nex 2, a smartphone with two screens, where the second serves to position the camera when taking selfies. This allows you to abandon the front-facing camera. The idea is good, and the device itself was presented in December. What to expect from Vivo this time is still unclear.

ZTE The Chinese brand ZTE is not so well known yet, but their sub-brand Nubia is gaining momentum. This company, according to rumors, plans to present a folding smartphone at MWC, as evidenced by the eloquent teaser " flex your life".
